Modelling Acute and Late Genitourinary Toxicities in Patients Treated for Prostate Carcinoma

Summary

Dose escalation was shown to improve biochemical outcome for patients with prostate carcinoma. However, along with dose escalation, toxicity events escalate too. The study aims to understand how dose-volume, clinical and treatment factors influence toxicity. We also aim to study the effects of other factors like regional dose distribution and endpoint definition in normal tissue complication modelling.

Why my research is important

A better understanding of the toxicity to normal tissue would hopefully give us the best of both worlds: better outcome and less toxicity.
