  6. How do I print using the photocopier advanced features?

Can I print to the Kyocera photocopiers?

Yes: the School of Physics has two photocopiers in the facilities room (4.56) on the fourth floor.  Both photocopiers have been configured as network printers.

The smaller of the two photocopiers is a Kyocera KM-5050; the larger is a Kyocera KM-8030, and has an additional built-in stapler.

Note that both photocopiers:

  • are greyscale printers;
  • can print double-sided;
  • are capable of scanning documents and emailing them to you as PDF attachments.

This last point is mentioned for informational purposes only; scanning and email of documents is performed via the photocopiers' front panel, and is outside the scope of this FAQ.

Where can I download drivers for the Kyocera photocopiers?

From the blue "Quick Links" column on the right.

Note: Kyocera have not produced modern drivers for Linux or MacOS 8/9.  Available drivers must be specially customised with an Account ID before they will work.  Contact Luka Pravica with your name, group and Account ID.  He will email you a custom printer driver (PPD file) to use.

(Account IDs can be obtained from the School Manager.)

Advanced features include duplex (double-sided) printing & stapling.]

Note that only the big photocopier (KM-8030) has a stapler installed.

The links below include instructions on how to set these options:

(For Linux, advanced printing features should have been set during the driver configuration stage.)
